Why Center for Public Relations?

Today we handover this platform into your able hands. We hope that you will take good care of it, feed it, engage with it, consult it.

We believe this platform will transform the way you approach Public Relations and Communication Management, especially in Africa.

A survey of 120 industry players, including students, lecturers, and practitioners, revealed some critical insights that informed the creation of Center for Public Relations, or simply, CPR.

We highlight below some of the key findings:

First, Practitioners face accessibility and cost issues when it comes to industry-related courses.

Secondly, Mentorship is lacking, as those with better knowledge often operate in silos, while outdated knowledge is applied by others.

Academia and practice are rarely tied together, and while lecturers rely heavily on academic papers, a significant number lack practical experience.

Students struggle to understand academic papers and yearn for information that is both educational and entertaining.

CPR is a community-driven platform aimed at promoting effective PR and Communication Management practices in Africa through high-quality industry knowledge. It provides an opportunity for industry players to share their knowledge and experiences, and to contribute in the form of case studies, articles, podcasts, templates, and online courses. It’s a space for individuals to ask questions, explore new terrain, and indulge their passion for discovery.

CPR further engaged many individuals who expressed excitement and support for this project, as they have much untapped knowledge about the industry but lacked a platform on which to share that which they know.

It is time for us to act on what we believe is right. This platform is founded on the idea of individuals developing each other’s skills by sharing their ideas, experiences, and expertise.

CPR is a space for industry players to contribute their knowledge in the form of case studies, articles, podcasts, templates, and online courses. Every practitioner, instructor, or student can now ask difficult questions, explore new terrain, and indulge their passion for discovery.

In this age of information, one mentor is no longer enough. Within the industry, are seasoned practitioners and researchers with unparalleled experiences about PR and Communication Management that can benefit us all if shared.

By exchanging knowledge and experiences, we will create a more informed and educated community of practitioners, instructors, and students, leading to better outcomes across sectors. Increased online and distance mentorship opportunities will help nurture new talent into the practice and ensure that the next generation is well-equipped to handle future challenges.

According to Marcus Aurelius, we came into the world for the sake of one another. Your contributions to industry enhance the quality of life for everyone else. CPR is here to encourage you to share your knowledge and expertise, seek out mentorship opportunities, and uplift others because all of us are smarter than any of us.

Let’s work as a team and capture, store, share, and institutionalize new industry-related information. This will ensure that PR and Communication Management in Africa remains a vital and thriving field for years to come.

Together, we can create impact that matters.
